fattening things. Many people try to reduce their weight by taking food and beverages that have less calorific
value. Diet tea comes to the help of such people to achieve their weight loss goals. Tea was invented in China
about 4,000 years ago; today it has gained more importance because of its numerous advantages.
The Chinese green tea has become more popular as the diet - tea, among those who want to reduce their weight in
a natural way. Most experts are of opinion that the green tea or the diet tea significantly helps to reduce
appetite and thus results in decreased intake of food and weight loss. Although this tea is a recent addition as a
dieters weapon, its ability to reduce weight and increase the metabolism has given it an edge over the other diet
supplements.

One can remain slim and trim by consuming this kind of tea. The Chinese tea can effectively and rapidly reduce
the weight of a person substantially. The effectiveness of the tea lies in its ability to prevent fat formation and
deposition in the body. Diet-tea significantly increases a person’s metabolic rate and causes increased energy

caffeine, so it does not cause increased heart rate and is considered safe. The most beneficial thing about using

greater than that of vitamin c .More over; diet tea is capable of preventing certain types of cancer.

under the skin. Green tea contain a particular chemical substance called Epigallocatechin gallate or commonly known
as EGCG. This catechin helps the body to burn more fat, when it reacts with the caffeine content of the green tea
or the diet-tea. The catechins remain in its natural form in this tea, as they are not undergone fermentation and
are found to decrease fat absorption from the diet. Diet-tea helps us to stay healthy by fighting the free
radicals, which are formed as a by-product of digestion. Free radicals in the body can cause damage to DNA and
cells; it can lead to cancer and heart problems. Diet tea or the green tea is a healthier way to loose weight, as
the EGCG contained in diet tea is naturally occurring substance and is much safer than other diet supplements
available in the market which have side effects.

Diet tea consumption also has many other benefits. The polyphenols contained in green tea
have been shown to suppress the growth of cancer cells in humans. The formation of carcinogenic compounds in our
body is prevented by the polyphenols present in the green tea. And it is discovered that the Chinese green tea is
more effective in preventing or treating cancer in the gastrointestinal tract. It is also found that certain
compounds in this tea are capable of stimulating our immune system. Diet-tea or green tea contains fluoride which
will help to fight tooth decay. Diet tea may also helps in regulating insulin levels of the body, so it is
considered good for diabetic patients.
Tea is actually a regular part of life for many people all over the world. Many studies suggested that the lower
heart related problems in French population; even though they consume high fat food is because they take in large
quantities of green tea with their diet. In case of Japan where a large percentage of the population is heavy
smokers, the incidence of heart diseases are less. This is attributed to their habit of drinking green tea or the
diet-tea.
Green tea or the diet-tea is produced in China, Japan, India and other Asian countries .world’s best green tea
comes from Darjeeling in India. the green diet tea is prepared with dried leaves of the tea plant, Camellia
Sinensis .The leaves are not fermented, and the tea has an attractive flavor .Since this tea is not fermented, the
oxidation it undergoes is less and the enzymes found in them is not exposed to oxygen. This retains the
catechins and flavor of the tea. Where as, black tea and oolong tea is prepared, by fermentation.
Diet tea come in different forms and varieties and is very popular in countries with different culture. But any
long-term studies have not been done to identify the actual effectiveness and the side effects of diet tea. So it
is necessary to have a proper study about this matter as more and more people are attracted to the idea of taking
diet tea to reduce their weight. Before taking diet tea as a diet supplement it will be better to consult a doctor
and make sure that the components of the diet tea will not interfere with the medicines one
taking for other health problems .
